OHSAS 18001

OHSAS 18001, the Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series for health and safety management systems, is an international standard that offers a framework to recognize, control, and decrease the risks associated with health and safety within your organization. OHSAS also certifies the organization.

OHSAS was created to prepare the industry towards adhering with OSHA, which was signed into law by President Richard M. Nixon on December 29, 1970. OHSAS 18001:2007, published in July 2007, is a new version of OHSAS 18001:1999, and it designed to address occupational safety, health and safety management, safety measures, health and safety requirements, environment (workplace), accident prevention, handling dangerous materials, quality management health and safety, and much more!

Earning this certification will let your employees and your other team members see that your organization cares for the health and safety of its employees.

An increasing number of practices/organizations are opting for this certification as employers are under pressure to ensure their employees’ health and safety. Under OSHA law, organizations have the responsibility to provide safer working environment with responsibilities like:

  • A workplace free from serious recognized hazards and complying with standards, rules, and regulations issued under OSHA.
  • Established or updated operating procedures and communicating them so that employees follow safety and health requirements.
  • Providing safety training in a language and vocabulary workers can understand.
  • And much more!
